Don’t threaten me with a good time, please
A vibrant walkable downtown would be a good thing for East Brunswick
In 2016, a Republican activist said that if immigration is not restricted, there will be Taco trucks on every corner. One could argue that since then, not much has changed concerning immigration in the US. The Taco trucks on every corner we were promised have not been delivered.
It is 2022 now, and it looks like the Republican town council slate of candidates sent out a menacing flyer to East Brunswick residents insinuating that if they are not elected, East Brunswick will turn into “New New Brunswick.” They say that we should vote for Herrera, Shah, Evola & Kincaid to bring businesses, entertainment, and quality restaurants to East Brunswick.
I am baffled.
As an East Brunswick resident, I often go to New Brunswick next door to experience a vibrant, walkable, and safe downtown with quality restaurants, theaters, and businesses. I would much rather spend my money here, in East Brunswick.
Is the flyer threatening us with a good time?
The fact is that a vibrant, walkable, and safe downtown with restaurants, entertainment, and businesses is already being built. There was groundbreaking at Vermella East Brunswick just a few days ago, for example.
It behooves the Republican town council candidates to clarify what they meant by that confusing flyer.
